Ok-Electrical seeks over Rs3 per unit hike in energy tariff

A couple of days after the federal government introduced a rise within the energy tariff by Rs1.39 per unit, Ok-Electrical, the only electrical energy provider in Karachi, has submitted an utility to the Nationwide Electrical Energy Regulatory Authority (NEPRA), in search of a Rs3.45 per unit hike within the price of electrical energy.
In line with NEPRA, Ok-Electrical has requested a rise in energy tariff on account of the month-to-month gasoline value adjustment (FCA) for September.
Energy shoppers must bear a further burden of Rs6.64 billion if the Ok-Electrical plea will get a nod from the regulatory authority.

Earlier on October 15, the federal government had determined to extend the facility tariff preserving in view the hovering round debt of Pakistan, Federal Minister for Vitality Hammad Azhar had mentioned.
Talking throughout a press convention in Islamabad together with the State Minister for Info and Broadcasting Farrukh Habib, Azhar had mentioned that this enhance in energy tariff of Rs1.39 will likely be relevant from November 1.
“We now have the capacity to generate enough electricity, therefore we want to increase the demand. We introduced an industrial package last year which has been successful as we have seen a 15% increase in demand,” the minister had mentioned.
“Meanwhile, we have also seen a 6-7% increase in the demand for electricity as the peak hours for the industrial sector have been removed.”
