Bob Dylan releases first unique tune in eight years, surprises followers

NEW YORK CITY: Bob Dylan stunned followers in a single day into Friday by releasing his first unique music in eight years, a 17-minute ballad concerning the assassination of John F. Kennedy.

Backed by delicate piano, strings and muted drums, Homicide Most Foul retells the taking pictures of the US president whereas describing the evolution of 1960’s counterculture.

“This is an unreleased song we recorded a while back that you might find interesting. Stay safe, stay observant, and may God be with you,” Dylan posted on his web site, together with a portrait of Kennedy, who was slain in 1963 whereas driving in a motorcade via Dallas.

The tune is filled with artist name-drops and popular culture references, together with to The Beatles, Charlie Parker, the Eagles, Stevie Nicks and the Woodstock pageant.

“Shot down like a dog in broad daylight / Was a matter of timing and the timing was right / You got unpaid debts; we’ve come to collect / We’re gonna kill you with hatred; without any respect,” Dylan recounts in his signature sandpaper vocals.

It’s the folks singer’s first unique tune since his 2012 album Tempest, although he has launched quite a few cowl albums within the interim.

Homicide Most Foul can also be the primary tune Dylan has penned and launched since he reluctantly accepted the 2016 Nobel Prize for Literature, the primary songwriter awarded the distinction.

At 78, Dylan has maintained a relentless touring schedule, although he was pressured to cancel a string of April dates in Japan over the coronavirus pandemic.

The artist remains to be set to kick off a North American tour in June.
